Ancient leaks had damaged much of the sheathing. The century-old boards are dark; the lighter ones are newer.
 
 
The wild West Wind at the end of October rocked the house on its temporary supports. To protect it, the old roof (which needed to be replaced) was removed.
 
 
 
 
Work on the floor joists is under way. So that the remaining footings can replace the cribbing, the rigid structure will be lowered onto its permanent supports.
